About b1 Design Studio
B1 Design Studio is a full service residential design company creating thoughtful, high quality designs that respond to form and function but most importantly are designed for the individuals who will inhabit them.

From modest remodels to high end custom homes your project will be designed to meet your requirements and budget. All projects receive the same level of service. By using the latest generation of architecture modeling software and mobile devices the client is able to see the project develop and make decisions more easily. The design becomes an engaging, thought provoking and even fun process!

Each project is viewed as an opportunity to explore new ideas with an open mind and to ask "What If" throughout the design. An open minded collaboration of ideas allows the owner's vision to be the focal point.
I believe that well designed homes can truly make people's lives better. I am passionate about architecture and design, so let's create the home you've always wanted, together!

About Me
Paul Beuckens, AIBD
Design Professional
I was born and raised in the mid west and received an associates degree in Architectural Design and Drafting from Southeast Technical Institute in 1985. Upon graduation I relocated to Florida and began my career as a draftsman with a major A/E firm designing projects ranging in scope from commercial architecture, site planning, land development, roadways, complex freeways and bridges. I worked my way up the ladder to lead designer, project manager, department manager and eventually to firm partner and owner. I have been in the Architecture/Engineering industry for over 25 years.

I established B1 Design Studio to provide home owners, builders, architects & engineers design and drafting services. I have over 20 years of experience in designing and building custom private residences in Florida. I have a diverse range of residential design experience from new custom homes to remodeling and additions of many styles and budgets. I use a wide range of tools to produce quality designs starting with hand sketches, drawings, scaled physical models and the latest CAD software called BIM or Building Information Modeling.

I have been a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design, AIBD since 2007.

The Design Process:
Projects begin with a conversation and listening. Ideas are explored with pencil and paper. Concepts are solidified with computer modeling. Final plans are prepared to build the project.
Schematic Design
Beginning with an open dialogue to address questions and overall program we help you define the size, scope, budget, and character of the project, as well as our fees. We prepare an initial agreement with the outline and description of the work to be performed.

We begin with sketching ideas onto paper using traditional tools of the trade. Sketching allows for quickly putting ideas down and studying the overall intent of the project. The schematic or conceptual design is a time to be creative, open minded and enjoy the process!
Design Development
Once the design reaches a certain point we input the concepts into a computer model called "BIM" short for Building Information Model.

Drawings created at this point are derived from the model and become the basis for construction documents to follow. Documentation becomes more detailed and typically includes site plans, floor plans, elevations, 3-d views and any necessary material selections.

Clients are able to see the designs progress through virtual building models with pdf drawings, renderings and walk through videos.

We can help to engage a general contractor to obtain cost estimates at this stage.
Construction Documentation
We prepare all necessary drawings and specifications for permitting including all details the contractors will need to build the project including architectural, structural, landscape, mechanical, electrical and plumbing designs.
Decisions on design details, materials, products, finishes, and the many fine points of construction documentation all serve to reinforce the overall design concept and are critical to a successful project.
Upon completion of these documents and permits issued the process of translating the design into reality can begin.
